Quick Review: Ninja Gaiden 2 Black |
I was hesitant to play this one due to a lot of negative reception that appeared when it was first released. Everyone said it was an awful version and was based on the much derided NG2 Sigma. So, at the time, I just played the 360 original instead and loved that, despite it being extremely hard, even on the easy mode that I played it on. But before Ninja Gaiden 4 was released, I decided to give this version a go.
Needless to say, most of the online responses were actually correct. This was a lot easier than the 360 original. Almost laughably so in some points.
But there are some improvements in this new version, like the removal of some of the more annoying bosses, like the 2 dragons, the 2 armadillos, and the worm (that one really sucked).
There is also a resolution bump on the Unreal Engine. But the original got a resolution bump anyway on the Series X backwards compatibility. I also found this version to be rather blurry due to a lot of post-processing. Some of this can be turned off, but not all.
Overall, I would recommend just playing the original Ninja Gaiden II instead of this one if you’re only going to play one. It has some irritating bosses but is overall a better experience.
